Cassandra’s passion is life-long learning and one of her favorite subjects is nature. When she’s not in the shop or with her family, you’ll find her in the woods around Marquette, Michigan. Sometimes she’s on a quiet solo hike, sometimes she’s collecting sweetwater or tending the boilers in our family sugarbush, and sometimes she’s leading community Nature Connection programs.

In the shop, she sews, packages, inventories, orders supplies, and does a thousand other behind-the-scenes things that keep RedLeaf Designs humming. She’s also a self-described “technology cave woman,” so consider yourself lucky if you happen to catch her by phone or email!

Jeremy

CO-FOUNDER + CHIEF EXECUTIVE PADDLER + SEWING MACHINE CAPTAIN

Jeremy is living his dream. Literally.

He’s a passionate paddler, cyclist, hiker, trail runner, and skiier. He also loves gear and is a life-long maker, always tinkering, developing, and testing new bits and pieces to improve his outdoor experiences. Making great  gear for amazing customers who have audacious adventures is his dream-come-true.

You’ll find him on the other end of most phone calls, emails, and chats; he does most of our product development; he cuts and sews; and, most importantly, he will eagerly listen to your stories and share your excitement and passion for the outdoors.  

Josh

CUTTER + SEWIST + WORDSMITH + BEARD MODEL

Josh wields scissors and chalk to make huge pieces of fabric smaller, then uses a needle and thread to make them bigger, again. He's also our resident wordsmith and pens beautiful stories about woods and waters while his luxurious beard shimmers in the sunlight.

In a previous life, he was the director of a writing program and professor of English at a liberal arts college, a professional and competitive tree climber, and a nationally celebrated, award-winning storyteller.

Katie

STITCH MASTER + ASSEMBLY WIZARD + SUPER MOM

Katie brings efficiency, quality, and skill to the team in all things involving a needle and thread. She's master behind a sewing machine and has experience stitching everything from the finest lace wedding dresses to giant inflatable bounce houses.

We get to see her a couple of times a week as she picks up covers to be sewn and drops off those that she's finished. She works from her own sewing loft a few miles away from ours, surrounded by her amazing kiddos. We're so lucky to have her on the Crew!

The Boys

SHOP GROMMITS + BRINGERS OF LEVITY

When we say that we’re a family business, we really mean it. Hale and Calder both spend time working side-by-side with us in the shop. Calder dusts and cleans machines, collects trash and fabric for recycling, and assembles buckles and bits. Hale cords and folds every canoe cover, can throw down a mean bartack, and is always ready and eager to lug heavy rolls of fabric when a freight delivery shows up in the driveway.

First and foremost, they’re both kids, eager to learn, excited about life, and filled with humor, joy, kindness, and compassion. Their futures are wide open, they’re growing up quickly, and we're grateful for every moment we share with them.
