Kruger Sea Wind Spray Cover
Kruger Sea Wind Spray Cover $400.00
The legend of Verlen Kruger is equaled only by the legend of his unmatched expedition canoes.  The Sea Wind is Verlen's exceptional decked solo canoe and we are proud to offer a  Sea Wind spray deck that combines the same, Aqualon Edge fabric that Verlen used with an updated, modernized body tunnel.  We offer the Sea Wind spray deck in blue, charcoal grey, forest green, and red.  If you select the option to include stainless steel snap buttons with your cover, we will attach the buttons to the cover (4 per side) and send a set of 8 stainless snap studs, rivets, and washers that you will need to install on your cockpit coaming.  Note that our spray covers do not come with the arched battens that connect to the Sea Wind cockpit coaming. If you no longer have the battens, we can sew four HDPE battens and tensioning straps into the underside of the deck.  The Modern Spray Tunnel Verlen's original spray tunnel design had two zippers on the front sides of the tunnel, a bungee draw cord around the top, and used the same marine-grade Aqualon Edge fabric as the deck. While it is a time tested design, it can be difficult to get out of in a capsize and the heavy weight fabric can be uncomfortable against the body.  We have updated the spray tunnel by combining the original Sea Wind spray deck  with the anatomic tunnels that we use on our Expedition canoe spray decks. The tunnels are fitted so that they contour over your knees and lap, include short battens to keep the lap section from inverting and collecting water, and roll away for warm days when you want the spray deck body, but don't want a tunnel around your torso. The modern tunnel also has a front seam secured with 2" Velcro that can be released quickly with a reinforced rip-tab, facilitating a quick exit in the event of a capsize.  We find the modern tunnel to be safer, more comfortable, and equally durable and sea worthy compared to the original.
Padded Paddle Case
Padded Paddle Case $79.00
Our padded, durable paddle cases are like Fort Knox for your canoe and kayak paddles. Made from a durable, breathable WeatherMax LT fabric exterior and padded with quilted polyester lining, these cases protect your paddles from more than the casual bumps and drops. Each case will hold two canoe paddles or one two-piece kayak paddle in compartments separated by a quilted and padded divider. If you don't mind your paddles sharing compartments, they'll hold four canoe paddles or two two-piece kayak paddles.  The cases have a convenient, balanced carrying handle, a secure Velcro closure, and hold paddles narrower than 11”. The case size indicates the longest paddle they will hold; if you have a 56" paddle, the 56" paddle case will comfortably protect it with a bit more than an inch to spare.Personally, we keep our primary and spare paddles for solo paddling in one of these cases and a second case with our tandem paddles in it.  Details: Shell:  WeatherMax LT Padding and lining: Quilted polyester  Trim:  Polyester binding Other: Velcro closure and webbing handle Note: If you want to keep your paddles safe from scratches and bumps in your car, but think that our padded paddle cases are more than you need, click here to learn about our lighter, premium polyester paddle socks.

Solid-braid Floating Rope
Solid-braid Floating Rope from $0.50
This solid-braid, floating, polypropylene rope is our favorite rope for canoe painter lines and sea kayak and canoe tow lines. It's fine, 100% multifilament polypropylene braid is soft in the hand, holds knots beautifully, and withstands the daily wear, tear, and abrasion that a working rope is exposed to. We carry this rope in 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch diameters and, personally, we find that the 1/4-inch diameter is perfect for our own use. If you're lining a heavy tandem or otherwise prefer a larger diameter rope for easier handling, consider getting the 3/8-inch diameter.  We are proud to have it made for us by a specialty manufacturer in North Carolina who meets the American Cordage Institutes standards for quality, safety, and ethical production practices.  900 pound tensile strength (1/4-inch); 1800 pound tensile strength (3/8-inch) 100% multifilament polypropylene (MFP) solid braid construction Floats UV-resistant Solid-pigment, non-dyed fibers resist fading and won’t bleed color Waterproof Mildew-resistant Low-stretch High-visibility safety orange color PRICING IS PER FOOT. Tether Tabs
Tether Tabs $14.95
Tether Tabs are one of our secret weapons for ninja-like portages and clean, organized paddling. They'll securely hold painter lines, paddle shafts, fishing rods (and more!) to your boat's thwarts or end decks. The RedLeaf Gang typically have 4 on each of our canoes - a set at the bow and stern for our painter lines and another set on the mid-ship thwarts to hold the shafts of our paddles (combined with snug, blade-cradling Paddle Pockets for the win). They wrap around your thwarts with 1-1/2" Velcro and are held securely in place with a non-slip pad on the underside. The hold fast is a bungie-and-ball system that's easy to release with a quick tug on the 1" webbing release tab (witness the magic in our video below!). They easily fit on 2-1/2" wide wood thwarts and can be trimmed to snugly fit round aluminum thwarts, too. Own a scuppered, wooden end deck without a carrying thwart like those found on Northstar and Bell canoes? No worries! We make a special 1" wide version just for you.

The Original Bag Lady Kayak Cover $279.00
IF YOUR KAYAK PATTERN IS NOT LISTED IN THE DROP-DOWN OPTIONS, DON'T WORRY!  While we have many patterns for many kayaks, there are always many more that we don't have. Contact us at hello@redleafdesigns.com or (906) 451-4539 and we'll send you a measurement guide so that we can make a custom-fit cover for your boat.  Before ordering a WeatherMax 3D cover, please read this statement about minor cosmetic flaws in WeatherMax 3D fabric. The link will open in a new window, so you will not lose any information you've already selected on this product page.  _________________________________ Our Bag Lady kayak covers are made from the same premium, double-knit polyester or marine-grade WeatherMax 3D fabric as our famous canoe covers. These covers protect the hull of your kayak from UV damage, fading, bugs, scratches, stone chips, road grime, and more when you're transporting or storing your kayak.  The cover fully encloses the kayak and seals with a durable, plastic #10 YKK marine zipper. Understern and overstern rudders are accommodated with a variety of closure variations depending on your boat's specific rudder system and positioning.  Each cover is custom-sewn for your kayak to ensure a perfect fit that minimizes flapping when traveling and provides easy access to carry toggles, handles, and tie-down points.  Previous owners of Bag Lady kayak covers attest to the benefits of protecting their kayaks with the one and only Bag Lady kayak covers, reporting: Less darkening and aging of Kevlar Less blushing, milking, and yellowing of epoxy Less oxidation and fading of fiberglass gelcoat Less fading of polyethylene Less travel wear and road dirt Less required maintenance Less UV damage to hatches, deck lines, cockpit covers, and deck fittings Higher resale values Bag Lady kayak covers are unequaled in durability and workmanship, offering a unique closure system, an impeccable fit, and top quality, Made-In-The-USA fabrics to protect your kayak. They are all made to order in our family sewing loft in Skandia, Michigan.  Bag Lady kayak covers are ONLY available direct from RedLeaf Designs. Beware of imitations and look for the RedLeaf Designs logo on your kayak cover! WHY POLYESTER? Our most popular and budget-minded fabric is a durable, stretch polyester double-knit. It's long-wearing and great for general protection from UV damage, road dirt, bugs, strap-rub, etc. This is the fabric that you probably have in mind when you think of a Bag Lady cover.  Note that polyester is not waterproof or water-resistant. This isn't a problem for most fiberglass, carbon, Kevlar, cedar strip, or polyethylene kayaks, since the fabric breathes very well and dries very quickly: water won't damage most kayaks. In fact, breathability is crucial so that the cover doesn't trap moisture between the cover and the boat, leading to mildew and mold issues.  Polyester also fades quickly in the sun, but we still think it's a great material for a cover. We use a premium polyester fabric that's thick and will give you many, many years of service even though the outside of the fabric will fade.  WHY WEATHERMAX 3D? WeatherMax 3D is a premium outdoor, marine-grade fabric that offers the same, form-fitting stretch and exceptional fit of polyester, with a number of additional benefits: Water-resistant and breathable Blocks 99% of UV light for long-term UV resistance Exceptionally color-fade resistant HydroMax finish for dirt and mildew resistance 100% pigment solution-dyed SaturaMax fibers While our premium polyester has been the mainstay of the Bag Lady covers for the past 40+ years, the additional cost of a WeatherMax 3D cover is well worth the investment if you want the best possible cover longevity or your canoe is stored outdoors. Before ordering a WeatherMax 3D cover, please read this statement about minor cosmetic flaws in WeatherMax 3D fabric. The link will open in a new window, so you will not lose any information you've already selected on this product page.  PRICING Most polyester kayak covers cost $259 for kayaks up to 18-1/2 feet long with a maximum hull circumference of 56 inches or less. WeatherMax 3D covers start at $359. Longer and wider kayaks and kayaks with understern or overstern rudders will require an upcharge for additional fabric and labor.  DELIVERY TIME Most covers are made-to-order. In the off-season, we're often able to begin working on your cover within a day or two and ship it within a week. During the busy Spring and Summer seasons, we often run a month or so out on orders.  Check the home page for our current lead time, as well as any in-stock covers that are available immediately.
